New routing settings coming soon

We listened to user feedback, which widely requested more flexibility and user choice in routing.

We are currently developing new routing features for Bikenavi with the aim of making route planning considerably more flexible than it currently is. As riding preferences vary from the most direct tarmac routes to twisty gravel roads and more demanding terrain, we want to put the reins directly in the user's hands.

New profiles

We are currently designing and testing a new routing menu., how the route's nature can be precisely modified to suit one's own needs before setting off on the journey. As The user interface will be getting new master profiles and sliders for fine-tuning road characteristics.

Adventure

This profile steers away from main roads and favours varied surfaces. It's an optimal choice for seeking out smaller roads and gravel tracks.

Curvy

This option seeks out the most bends and curvy road sections for the route. It's perfect for enjoying the drive when there's no rush on travel time.

Straight

This profile selects the most efficient and fastest route to the destination without unnecessary detours. It favours clear main routes, making it ideal for direct travel.

Where are we going?

The algorithms and user interface are currently being fine-tuned during internal testing., so that routing works reliably based on different weightings.

Fine-tuning sliders

Mere head profiles are not always sufficient, so we are testing two sliders for more precise route weighting:

  • Unpaved road surface Determines how actively the routing seeks to avoid asphalt. In the minimum setting, it stays purely on paved surfaces, in the middle setting, it includes well-maintained gravel roads, and in the maximum setting, the algorithm primarily prioritises dirt roads and smaller routes, minimising asphalt transfers.

  • Road complication It affects the shape and geometry of the route. The left side seeks straight and fast road sections. When pulled to the right, the algorithm begins to emphasise curves and elevation changes, which can consciously lengthen the journey to achieve a more dynamic driving route.

How does the whole thing look? If you have any thoughts or wishes regarding the adjustments, We welcome feedback at this stage of development.
