The Danger Circle – Part 2

A relaxed two-day trip to the dangerous landscapes of Kainuu. The start was on Friday at 3 pm from Oulu and the trip ended on Saturday afternoon in Vaala. The route offers diverse road sections, mainly good gravel and rural roads, as well as plenty of driving fun amidst the forests and dangers of Northern Finland!

Day 1

📍Oulu – Ylikiiminki – Jaurakaisjärvi – Ruottisenharju – Pintamo – Taivalkoski📍

The route starts in Oulu and heads towards Ylikiiminki along quieter roads. From Ylikiiminki, continue towards Jaurakaisjärvi, where a more clearly gravel-surfaced section begins. The road runs through forests and small water bodies towards Ruottisenharju, where the differences in altitude and the ridge landscape bring variety to the ride. Through the village of Pintamo, you reach Taivalkoski. The day's route offers a total of approximately 275 km of varied riding, both on good gravel roads and asphalt sections.

Day 2

📍Taivalkoski – Cross-country track – Irnijärvi – Kylmäluoma – Pyhäranta – Puolanka – Kiiskijärvi – Vaala📍

The second day begins with a transition to an old field track, where the route was slightly adjusted from the planned one. On this section, we had to cross a bridge in poor condition and one wide ditch, which required a little adjustment and precision. After that, the journey continued to Irnijärvi and further towards the Kylmäluoma hiking area. Immediately afterwards, we stopped at the Kälkäjä hut for a short whistle and a snack before continuing the journey. After Pyhäranta, the road leads via Puolanka towards Kiiskijärvi, and further northeast to Vaala. The road sections vary from a good asphalt road to narrow ball-bearing forest truck roads, but the route remains driveable. The total distance during the day is approximately 300 km.

The route is especially suitable for adventurous motorcyclists who appreciate quiet roads and scenic rides in the Kainuu wilderness!

The route has varying surfaces, but not everything is suitable for big wheels.
